No motor, no suspension, nothing
A child seen riding a normal bicycle around Tiburon has set off a heated conversation about what’s happening with him. “This bike looked pretty outdated,” said one witness. “It was also making a squeaking noise as he pedaled along — heartbreaking.” Authorities say providing a Tiburon child with a sub-premium bicycle isn’t technically illegal, but is a cause for concern. As one social worker put it, “If the kid doesn’t have a sick bike, what’s going on in the home?”
The tragic sighting has galvanized the philanthropic community, which has mobilized to connect marginalized youth with more impressive set-ups. “Seeing a young boy from this community riding around on some second-hand piece of shit is unacceptable, and frankly embarrassing,” said a rep for the charity formed in the wake of the sighting.
