Marin is now home to several towns that have surpassed the “Brayden threshold,” a measure used to evaluate residential areas based on the number of boys with blow-dried hair who look as if they may begin dancing in formation at any moment. While officials say having an excessive number of Braydens per capita makes an area inherently undesirable, they emphasized in a statement that "Brayden" should not be used pejoratively. "We don't want to see this name become shorthand for a common suburban character (a la “Karen”); it is to be reserved for urban-planning purposes only (i.e. “Terra Linda is a Brayden-centric community”).
