We are one. Not in the sense of “we are all one” (which is debatable, to say the least), but in the sense that Marin Lately has now existed for precisely 365 days. This is a major milestone, given the general consensus that a publication like this should not exist at all. And we have you to thank – our loyal readers and (especially) our paying subscribers, who are truly the Medicis of this questionable enterprise.
To commemorate this group effort, we invite all of you to come celebrate our one-year anniversary at the depot in Mill Valley from 2pm-5pm tomorrow. This will be a show-up and hang-out affair with no purpose other than bringing together people who have at least one important thing in common (the sharpness of mind and generosity of spirit inherent to all Marin Lately readers). We (Patrick) will of course be there, and look forward to meeting anywhere from five to several thousand of you. We might take a group picture.
For anyone who very understandably cannot make it tomorrow, there are other Marin Lately happenings on the books. The first is at the famous Manny’s in San Francisco on March 10th – a discussion with the New York Times' San Francisco Bureau Chief Heather Knight, who very memorably introduced us to the wider world. We hope you can come and be a part of it, as we have already arranged a humanitarian corridor to get Marin residents in and out of the city safely. (RSVP below)
EventbriteFor those who can’t make that, who are apparently super important and always busy, do not worry as there are other events in the works, each of them another opportunity for you to snub our invitation.
Lastly, to commemorate our status as a bonafide yearling and the people who made that possible, we wanted to give every paying subscriber an all-access 3-month subscription to gift to a friend/family member/enemy of your choosing. To claim yours, simply email us (at patrick@marinlately.com) with this poor person’s email address, and we will take care of the rest.
See you tomorrow!
