New polling shows voters in Marin have started to turn against Trump, a remarkable shift in a region where portraits of the president hang in many homes and January 6th is considered to be the true founding date of the country.

The erosion of support in the stronghold seems to be rooted in a sense of disillusionment, given that people in the area were completely on board up until very recently. “Marin County was all-in on his first term, and has been with him most the way in his second,” said one Republican strategist. “But there is a clear sense here now that he is not delivering on his agenda.”
That sentiment is evidenced by disappointed constituents publicly demanding that Trump keep the promises he made on the campaign trail. “Those protests you see on the overpasses—that’s what they’re so upset about,” said Josh Frapp, a former supporter from Larkspur. “Greenland should have been ours by now. We want our med-beds.”
These days, Frapp says he rarely wears the beer helmet he picked up on a pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago, and regrets naming his only child after the president. “People change, and they will disappoint you,” he added. “I had a heart to heart with my daughter Donald about that just this morning.”
