Editor’s note: Today we are inaugurating “PHASE 2” of Marin Lately, which is all about bringing you into our pages – beginning with this new feature, which will document real-life developments in Marin County based largely on tips that have been ethically harvested from the eyes and ears of our readers.
[Community Updates, Vol. 1]
The messages painted on the car windows of graduating seniors in Marin County now include their Venmo addresses. A lavish home in Sycamore Park that sold recently included a “dog-washing station”; the amenity was promptly removed by its new owners.
San Anselmo’s paid parking walk-back demonstrated the difficulty of eliciting change in Marin County. A burger truck meant to help revitalize Corte Madera’s Old Town Square has instead annoyed nearby merchants by occupying multiple parking spots. Parents of Tam High students recently angered at least one person by monopolizing the entire Safeway lot on back-to-school night. Johnny Ives parked some of the $6.5 billion he recently collected from Open AI in four properties in Belvedere, an island not known for its parking.
A Larkspur woman who believed she spotted the red squirrel accused of a string of vicious attacks in Lucas Valley was believed to have spotted a red squirrel. A resident of Shelter Ridge reported that a hitman contacted her, letting her know he was supposed to kill her, but would instead reveal who had hired him to do so for $2500. “It’s obviously a scam,” replied one commenter.
Editor’s second note: Already ground-breaking in an understated way, Community Updates will only get better as reader tips begin to pour in. Send us any interesting, off-beat (and true) tidbits that sum up life in Marin County and you may find yourself publicly thanked at the bottom of this column.
