Parents at a Marin school that is public and therefore inherently free say they have been surprised by how often it asks for money. Mind you, these parents have never failed to hand over the extra cash that the school insists it needs; they would just like to politely point out that they were under the impression – understandably, given the circumstances – that the school was free, and that it has turned out not to be.
