Police think they've solved a San Rafael murder from 1966 using a discarded cigarette butt. The suspect is long dead himself, for anyone worried that we've had a smoker on the loose all this time. But we should all be impressed that authorities managed to use a sixty-year-old homicide to identify a litterbug.

"Bank Robber Caught After Back-To-Back Heists In Marin County"

A San Rafael man was arrested for attempting to rob two local banks, though his refusal to carry a gun may leave him a Marin resident in good standing. What's remarkable about this case is the man's age – 61 – which is nearly double the age of the average armed robbery suspect but, more tellingly, a year shy of eligibility for social security benefits.
