When pedestrians attack, their impacts tell a tragic story measured in unsightly imperfections that humiliate motorists, and may even affect the vehicle’s resale value. With these incidents on the rise, more and more Audis and Toyotas are being affected by violent encounters from which many never fully recover – and experts say that's due to a disturbing discrepancy in human and automobile care. "While the perpetrators are whisked off to Marin General, there is no world-class hospital for cars," said Greer Chellers, a county transit deputy. That means drivers are forced to seek treatment from a patchwork of clinics run not by doctors, but by a guy named Al or Big Jim. "This is the reality for many busy commuters,” added Chellers. "They take their eyes off the road for one second to answer an email, and are left with an SUV that is no longer in excellent condition."
